Linear heat detection uses a heat sensing cable that detects a rise in temperature anywhere along its length. It continues to work where dust, moisture, vibration or extreme temperatures would defeat other detectors, and it can follow the shape of the asset it protects.
Typical uses are tunnels, conveyor belts, cable trays and cable tunnels, car parks, cold stores and industrial plant. Resettable linear heat detectors are covered by EN 54-22 in Europe. AlarmLine II from Kidde Global Solutions is designed for these demanding applications.
It detects a rise in temperature anywhere along its length. Each cable type has a fixed alarm temperature that is chosen for the environment it protects.
It is used in tunnels, conveyor belts, cable trays and cable tunnels, car parks, cold stores and industrial plant, where dust, moisture or extreme temperatures would affect other detectors.
A heat sensing cable runs along the area to be protected. When any point along the cable reaches its alarm temperature, the cable reacts and the control unit raises an alarm and shows where.
The cable is fixed along the risk, such as a conveyor or cable tray, following the manufacturer's installation manual, and the system is tested at commissioning and during service. Our team can supply the datasheet and installation guidance.
