1947

Following the Reina del Pacifico disaster, Lloyds Register approached Graviner to develop a product to reduce the risk of marine diesel engine explosions.

1951

Lloyds Register introduces crankcase safety regulations, and Graviner develops the first OMD Mk1 system.

1978

OMD Mk5 launched — in service until 2002, with spares supplied until 2015.

2000

OMD Mk6 launched — in service on vessels worldwide for over 20 years.

2012

OMD Mk7 launched — the culmination of decades of oil mist monitoring expertise combined with the latest technology.

2021

Mk7 is the standard OMD system specified for new-build vessels and system upgrades.
