A conventional fire detection system divides a building into detection zones. Detectors and call points in a zone share one circuit to the fire alarm panel, and the panel shows which zone is in alarm. It is simple to install, simple to understand and cost effective.
Conventional systems are well suited to small and medium buildings with a limited number of zones, such as shops, small offices, schools and workshops. If you need to see the exact detector in alarm, or the building is large or likely to grow, an addressable system is usually the better choice.
Fire alarm panels and detectors for Europe are certified to the EN 54 series. Kidde Global Solutions offers conventional panels and detectors, and can help you decide when to stay conventional and when to move to addressable.
